I’d like to thank all those members that showed up to get the Squadron in order. I realize that some members had their own flooding to deal with and I wish them the best. This was a very successful work party, and we removed all the wet drywall and insulation. Going forward the plan is as follows:
The priority will be to make the club house ready for the upcoming Regatta:
1. The main room:
At this point we have fans blowing, the air conditioning is on, and the main room is drying out. I had the carpet steam cleaned Sunday and it looks good. Once we think the main room is dry, visqueen will need to be rolled out to prevent the carpet from being trashed again. I brought some black visqueen to the club Monday.
Once everything is dry, and the visqueen and dust partitions are setup, we need to finish cutting the existing drywall in a straight line so that we can attach the new sheets.
Friday October 4th.
I have contacted a few members to install the drywall on Saturday. This is not an all hands on deck work party; please give us the room necessary to get this done and it will go fast.
We will address the chair closets, interior and exterior doors, and door jams after the main room. Painting, finish work will be scheduled as the time is right.
2. The kitchen will be the next priority; fortunately the cabinets are wood and not particle board, so though they got wet they should be OK.
3. The hallway and bathrooms will be the tough job. The water got behind the tile and will need to be removed; this includes the office. We will get port-o-lets shortly and they will be used while this portion of the work is underway and during the regatta.
This is just a synopsis, not completely detailed, of the project ahead of us; but given the talent and the sprit in the membership, we will be good to go before long.
